How to evaluate endoscopy software
Last updated .
Compare image capture, where the images go, how reports are written, and how scopes are tracked. Ask for a dated source on every number. NewCura's EndoManager® EMS is one option on that list.
Start from the job
Write down what has to happen in one procedure room: whose order starts the exam, where the images land, who writes the report, and who can see that the scope was reprocessed.
A single product name rarely covers all four. Split the comparison into imaging, reporting, and scope tracking before you score vendors.
Follow the image path
Ask where each image is stored and which system the physician opens to see it. Some sites want the image in the procedure note. Some already have a PACS or VNA and want a copy there too.
EndoManager EMS can send images to the procedure note without a separate VNA, and it can also route to a PACS or VNA you already run. Epic does not endorse listed software.
Keep reporting separate until you need it
Image management and the procedure report are different purchases. Confirm whether you are replacing a report writer, an image archive, or both.
EndoManager Reporting is NewCura's report writer. Ask us for details for your setup.
Ask how a scope is tracked
If the project includes reprocessing, ask which steps are recorded and what an auditor can export. Do not treat a marketing screenshot as the record.
ScopeCycle is NewCura's endoscope tracking product. Ask us for details for your setup.
Questions to take to any vendor
Which scopes and processors need a capture station, and which speak DICOM on their own? Who owns the hardware? What is the support path during business hours and after hours?
Reject any claim that has no date and no source. Reject any form that asks you to paste a medical record number or a date of birth.
Frequently asked questions
Does this guide pick a winner?
No. It is a checklist. EndoManager EMS is one imaging option. Schedule a demo if you want to see it against your own room list.
Where should the images go?
Into the procedure note, into a PACS or VNA you already run, or both. Write that destination down before you compare products.
What should I leave out of a vendor email?
Patient information. Do not include medical record numbers or dates of birth. Describe the room, the EHR, and the equipment instead.
